The Apple Watch Series 10 will include an upgraded display with longer battery life.
A report claims that the Apple Watch Series 10 will be released later this year with an enhanced display that offers longer battery life. The iPhone manufacturer is allegedly altering the manufacturing process for the Apple Watch Series 10’s OLED screen, which might increase the wearable’s efficiency, according to the South Korean website The Elec. Alongside the impending iPhone 16 series, the company’s Apple Watch Series 9 successor is anticipated to launch in the second half of 2024.
The Elec says (in Korean) that thin-film transistor (TFT) technology and a low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) OLED screen will be featured in the Apple Watch Series 10. According to reports, the corporation uses low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) technology in all but two of its switching transistors for the current generation Watch Series 9, which is supposed to result in worse battery efficiency.

According to reports, the corporation will use LTPS technology this year to minimize the number of transistors. According to the source, Apple will therefore only employ the less effective technology for circuits outside of the Pixel area and a small number of switching TFTs that are still in use. This suggests that in comparison to its predecessor, the Apple Watch Series 10 may have a longer battery life.
Bloomberg revealed last month that Apple was giving up on its internal attempts to create microLED panels. It was reported that the corporation had reorganized some of the display engineering teams and laid off other staff. The action was taken not long after reports surfaced that Apple had abandoned its nearly ten-year-old self-driving car project.
Although it’s possible that Apple won’t include microLED screens in its smartwatches in the future, the Apple Watch Series 10 is anticipated to be released in the second half of 2024 and feature upgraded display technology. The iPhone 16 series of smartphones, which is anticipated to have four models: the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, may be released alongside the smartwatches.
